DAY 1
“HUSTLE, HIT, NEVER QUIT”
The annual sports meet at Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy was wonderful venue for the students to show case their sense of sportsmanship. Under the capable direction of the sports captains of the four teams Vikings, Ragnars, Lannister’s and Targaryen’s, led by the Sports Secretary Mr. Sanjid Aman, and under the guidance of Dr. Milan Dhungana, the Sports Coordinator and the support of the Physical Education Director, Mr. Harish Gowda. Total of 460 students from all years of bachelor’s and masters of physiotherapy joined together to form four teams which was named after Hollywood fictions. The annual sports meet took place over five days, starting on February 5 2024 and ending on February 9 2024. The sports meet was officially opened on February 9th, with divine blessings of the almighty.
An assortment of indoor and outdoor sports was effectively organized by the Students Council of LMCP and volunteered by ‘INVINCIBLES’ (2020–21), the squad of final-year students. Started off with the most anticipated event, Treasure hunt, in the morning session This was followed by the newly added event, Rubik’s cube which was followed by arm wrestling in the morning, chess and carroms in the afternoon, volleyball for boys and throwball for girls in the evening. All the 4 teams played a close contest in the volleyball and throwball matches.
DAY 2
On Tuesday, February 6th, Girls table tennis and men’s cricket played out concurrently.
DAY 3
Kabaddi was the first activity of the day. The volunteer team set up the court.
Dodgeball for girls and boys
The most awaited event, football, took place in the afternoon. A team of seven players had twenty minutes to play. Up until the very end of the match, the team gave it their all on the field.
DAY 4
On the fourth day, the badminton tournament was hosted perfectly in the Perfect Pass Stadium. The matches were played indoors with 5 courts filled with the sound of squeaky shoes and whacking rackets.
DAY 5
The culmination of our sports week resulted in a phenomenal day. First, we had the March Past, in which every team, led by their captains as the flag bearers, carried their team jerseys. The student council led the March Past, which was expertly executed by our physical education director, Mr. Harish Gowda. All of the participants in the March Past gathered in front of the podium, and the principal Dr Sanjay Eapen Samuel began the ceremony by thanking the students for their contributions to this week’s success. The flag was then raised, and everyone saluted.
The torch lighting ceremony, which concludes the opening ceremony, usually produces the most unforgettable moments. The torch was carried by Mr.Pranav Jagadeesh in the lead, followed by promising athletes of LMCP, Ms.Anita.K.B, Mr.Shalom Thomas and Mr.Ahin Tom. Followed by, the sports secretory Mr. Sanjid Aman proceeded with the oath taking ceremony which was repeated by the rest of the athletes.
Dr. Milan Dhungana, sports coordinator, offered a vote of gratitude at the conclusion of the inauguration event.
