On the occasion of world Autism day, the students of LAXMI MEMORIAL COLLEGE OF PHYSIOTHERAPY (LMCP), organised program on Health and Fitness Screening on the occasion of Autism lead by department of PAEDIATRICS in ARIVU EARLY INTERVENTION CENTRE, SHAKTHINAGAR on 18 April 2024.
Screening for autistic kids had conducted by post graduates and interns as the first event. 30 students were screened to check grip strength using hand dynamometer and sit to reach test to check their flexibility. And the data including Name, Age, Gender, Height, Weight and BMI had collected and documented.
Lions club members also joined for the event. Mrs. Poornima , Director of Arivu, welcomed all the guest to the dais ; followed by prayer song and welcome dance by the autistic kids from Arivu intervention center.
Members of Lions club spoke about the social works they had done and the problems faced by the parents. Followed by brief awareness for the parents by Dr. Sanjay Eapen Samuel, principal of LMCP.
Dr. Sreejisha P.K incharge of Paediatrics department of LMCP had explained awareness about the nutritional problems and physical fitness of the kids and the precautions that has to be taken and the importance of physiotherapy treatment which can help the autistic children. Interns performed dance and Gift distribution for the kids of ARIVU INTERVENTION CENTRE was the last event.
The programme was supported and attended by principal Dr. Sanjay Eapen Samuel, Dr.
Sreejisha P K , Dr. Nimmy john and the Lions club members.
